Arkansas County 4-H Shooting Sports Competitions
Arkansas County 4-H had four teams compete in the Farm Bureau Benefit Shoot held June 5th at the Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex. Proceeds from this year’s shoot directly benefited both the Arkansas 4-H and Arkansas FFA Foundations. Arkansas County 4-H Shooting Sports appreciates Arkansas County Farm Bureau, Grand Prairie Excavation, and the Arkansas 4-H Foundation for sponsoring our teams.
4-H FRIENDS and FAMILY SHOOT
Arkansas County hosted a 4-H Friends and Family Shoot at Camp Doughboy on June 20th. 4-H youth from Arkansas, Desha, Lincoln, and Ashley Counties had 28 youth and 9 adults participating.
In the Junior Division Corbin (Arkansas) won 1st place with a perfect round, Timothy (Ashley) finished 2nd. Cooper (Arkansas) finished 3rd after winning a shootout with Tyson (Arkansas).
In the Senior Division Emery (Arkansas) won 1st in a shootout with Levi (Arkansas) and Charlie (Arkansas). It was an exciting shootout, and it looked like no one would miss. Levi finished 2nd and Charlie finished 3rd.
The Open Division winner was Blake (Arkansas) followed by Chalin (Ashley) and Trenton (Arkansas).
4-H Shooting Sports Program is perfect for kids who are interested in a safe and fun way to get outdoors and learn new skills. In addition to teaching youth concepts related to shooting safety and firearm responsibility, the curriculum offers opportunities for youth to develop important life skills such as citizenship, leadership, sportsmanship, ethics, critical thinking, and an appreciation for nature. 4-H Shooting Sports is a community-based, volunteer-directed, family-oriented program that emphasizes hands-on learning. The 4-H Shooting Sports program is designed to:
• Enhance self-confidence, personal development, discipline, responsibility, and sportsmanship.
• Create an appreciation and understanding of natural resources.
• Provide volunteer instructors with safe and proper instructional techniques and methods to teach youth.
• Give youth thorough, safe instruction and training in the use of firearms and teach conservation principles.
• Be FUN and SAFE for all participants.
