I Officer Hartford on May 11th 2026 was dispatched to 1602 N Lowe in reference to a hit and run. I Officer Hartford arrived on scene and was greeted by a 33 year-old male who stated it was his brother's house and that he was inside washing clothes when a lady from down the street knocked on their door and stated that a bhad hit his car and drove off causing damage to the passenger driver side back door. I Officer Hartford tried to make contact with
the lady who did not want to have anything to do with the situation.
On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, I, Sgt. Jennifer Crossett 211, was dispatched to 405 East 22nd Street, Wendy's, for a report. Upon my arrival, I spoke with a 26-year old male who stated that he was leaving the Wendy's parking lot when something hit his back windshield on his 2017 dark blue Chevrolet Equinox. He stated that a Hispanic male was using the leaf blower in the grass at the exit. He stated that he spoke with another individual with the company, Cutler Lawn care. He also spoke with the owner of the company.
Narrative - Brawley, Woody - 5/26/2026 9:58:19 AM (Initial)
On 5/26/25 at 0830 I Woody Bradley, was dispatched to Circl-L Auto, 1125 N. Buerkle for a accident. Upon my arrival i observed 1 18 Wheeler that had attempted to make a U-turn in the gravel parking lot, on the north side of the business. I noticed the front cab sunk into the grass are, to the axle. I made contact with the driver, a 45-year old male, He informed me that he had already called for a wrecker. ( Ollie's) He stated that he, missed his turn and was attempting to turn around and did not know the grass was soft (Due to the rain). Mr. Looper arrived shortly after Ollie's at 0857. Both individuals exchanged information. The truck was pulled out and no further incident occurred.
DeWitt Police Reports
On Wednesday, April 29, 2026 I, Officer Colton Westfall, received a statement from dispatch for an information report. Dispatch had received the written statement from a 46-year old male, who stated that he wanted to report fraudulent charges to his debit card to Walmart.com so he could dispute the charges. He stated as follows: " At 7:12P.M. I got a notification on my phone for a $425.62 fraud charge at walmart.com. Before I could get my card locked a second fraud charge of $401.88 was charged also. I contacted F&M Bank and cancelled the card while disputing charges as well. Will be going to the bank in person in the morning to see what else needs to be done."
There are no suspects at this time and he is unsure of where the charges originate from.
On Thursday, April 30, 2026, at approximately 9:15am, I, Officer Goodell, was flagged down by a pedestrian. He reported witnessing a single-vehicle accident on West 13th Street. He stated that when he approached the vehicle to offer assistance, the driver fled the scene, upon him checking to make sure she was okay, he described the vehicle as a white, four-door Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. I proceeded immediately to the reported location on West 13th Street. Upon arrival, I observed significant property damage consistent with a motor vehicle accident, including: A destroyed residential mailbox, Deep tire tread marks and turf damage across a residential lawn, impact damage to a tree located on a property. While assessing the scene, I observed a vehicle matching the description (white Santa Fe) traveling on Jefferson Street. I initiated a traffic stop and observed that the vehicle sustained severe damage consistent with debris and damage found at the west 13th Street scene. The driver was identified as a 25-year old female who admitted to being involved in the accident, claiming she suffered a "mild seizure" which caused her to lose control of the vehicle." I inquired if she required immediate medical attention or emergency services. She declined, stating she was "okay and did not need any medical attention or service" after ensuring the subject was medically stable and fit to receive documentation, I issued citations for the following:
Leaving the scene and criminal mischief.
