Dawn’s Delights

It is kinda crazy that I am working on this column two weeks in advance, but this editor is taking some time off. Shocking, I know… I really don’t know how much time I will actually have off though. You see it conveniently coincided with my grands’ babysitter going to Girls State. So I will have them all week while I am off. But, if you know me, that is absolutely fine with me. We are going to have to do some fun things, at least if it doesn’t rain all week. 

It is so difficult for me to take time off because the paper must still be done. Since I am the main reporter and editor, actually only part-time, that puts a burden on me to get the paper done ahead of time. So here I am doing my column for June 4, on May 22. I have two contractors who also help write news that help out. And I also have one or two who send in items or cover events for me, for free, to help me out. I appreciate that so much!

By the time you read this column, I will be back in the office. Hopefully, I will be rested and ready to hit it hard and heavy! Of course, if you know me, you know that’s the way  I roll. I have always said I have two speeds…wide open and dead stop.

On a completely separate note, a huge Congratulations to the DeWitt Dragonettes for their runner up status in the State Softball Championship! I don’t know about you, but in my opinion those girls had a heck of a season. They rose above various issues that came up and really shined! Great job and sportsmanship throughout it all! The season may not have ended perfectly, but that is ok because sometimes, perfect is over rated. The important thing is they stuck it out, as a team! Something to be proud of.
