Skinner Awarded Fellowship

Nathan Skinner, a senior at Stuttgart High School was recently awarded the U of A Fellowship,  which is a $20,000 scholarship for four years, totalling $80,000. Skinner was awarded the fellowship after applying and completing an essay on a subject named by the college. 
The U of A website for Honors College says this: .

  • Up to $80,000 ($20,000 per year)
  • All academic majors considered
  • Strong academic curriculum and performance
  • 70-80 offered each year

“I am honored to have received this fellowship to study at the University. I am looking forward to the opportunities it offers for my future.” Skinner said.
He is most excited about the study abroad options and assistance available to him.
Skinner has been a soccer player at SHS, participates in Student Council, National Honor Society, Interact Club, Key Club, Tennis and Archery. Previously, he has also been involved with the chess team, quiz bowl and Spanish club.
He attends First Baptist Church in Stuttgart and plays keyboard in the youth band, He also leads a Bible Study for High School Boys twice a week.


“Nathan is an exceptional math student and a remarkable young man. I am incredibly proud of his achievement in earning a top score of 5 on the AP Calculus exam,” said Brian Beard, SHS Math teacher.


“Having had the pleasure of teaching Nathan, I can confidently say he is a dedicated, engaging student—a true scholar and gentleman, disciplined, intelligent, and kind. I am so proud of him and can't wait to see what his future holds.” said Michele Kersieck, English teacher.


Skinner will graduate on May 15, 2026 with the SHS Class of 2026. We wish Nathan and all the graduates best of luck in their endeavors.
