Students from Ukraine Thank DES Students
Students in Dnipro, Ukraine, received and thanked DeWitt Elementary students recently for their gift of artwork and messages of hope. DES art teacher, Joli Holzhauer, shared photos, a short video, and the following message from Ukraine:
Friendship Without Borders!
Today our hearts are full of warmth, because we received an incredible greeting from across the ocean! The students of class 1A of Gymnasium 75 in the city of Dnipro want to express our sincere gratitude to our new friends from America for the incredible support and gifts.
Every drawing, every card — is a reminder that we are not alone. Your kindness helps us smile even in the hardest times. Thank you for your kind hearts and for being with us!
Together we are strong! We hope that one day we will be able to meet and thank you in person under the peaceful sky of Ukraine.
Thank you, America!
Hold on, Ukraine!
The young artists of DeWitt Elementary created colorful artwork during Kindness Week in February. Many students wrote kind messages to encourage the students suffering from the effects of war in their country. Students were touched to hear from the Ukrainian students and learn how their actions can have far-reaching effects.
The artwork was sent to Ukraine along with other small gifts through partnership with the organization, Hugs from Friends, based in Bentonville, Arkansas.
A healthy Arkansas County requires great community news.
